The rumors of my death...

Samuel Clemens, folks; give him a hand!

I'm not dead. Sorry for never writing anything. It has been suggested that either I am dead, or that life is boring, or that I am too busy with wedding plans to be bothered. None of which are true. The truth simply is that I have nothing to say. I suppose it's similar to option #2. Work is busy, life is good, but there's not a lot outstanding that is going on.

One thing that I have apparently not communicated well at all is our wedding plans. Since it now seems that we can use our original date after all, the wedding has been restored to its October 21 date. And because of a lot of reasons that I won't go into here, but not the least of which is that we now live here, the location has been moved to Richmond, VA. I do have a list of groomsmen in mind, only one or two of whom I have spoken with. I suppose I really need to make calls.

Work is going well. Our project has been finished for a long time, except for the changes and clarifications to the instructions we were originally given. It's not on the web yet, but it's looking pretty good. Yesterday, we got an email saying that it looked good and that it finally met the requirements presented. Which is not true, because 1) they have told us to make many changes that are not in said requirements, and 2) a large portion of the program has been rendered impossible to program because the credit card processes simply do not exist for use to use. I think they've just given up on that part, however.

Chris -- my partner -- and I are moving on to more of an instructory role bringing a team of front-end developers up to speed with the programs that the portal team is using. (Don't worry; none of this has to make sense to you.) Right now, the architects make mockups of what they want a new project to look like in Visio and put them on Docushare, the UI team (with whom we are working) makes pages in Dreamweaver and puts them on Docushare, and the portal team (that's us) makes another set of pages in Weblogic Workshop and puts them in Harvest. What we're moving to is the UI team making the pages in Workshop and putting them on Harvest. In addition to the obvious benefit of the portal developers (again, me) not having to create everything from scratch anymore, the UI team will also be able to troubleshoot UI problems themselves. Right now, I'd say generously that 90% of the problems I get told to correct are UI problems. You can see why I think this is a good idea, yes?

In other news, Jaimeson and I joined a church this past Sunday. We just need VA license plates and we'll pretty much be locals. Even well before this step, the pastor was counseling us for the wedding and the Youth director and his wife were trying to get us working with a new and experimental College group. So we figured this was probably a good step. On top of all that, next Sunday is Scouting Sunday, and I think I'm going to try to find the Scoutmaster for the Troop at the church and see if he wants any help. One of the great regrets of my life is that I quit going to Scouts when we moved to Charleston. Is this an attempt to vicariously relive my childhood through someone else's kids? I dunno. I suppose I'll find out later.

That's about it for now, I guess. Jaimeson is well. Richmond is nice. The weather is getting colder again, which is a plus. Miss you all terribly. Now if you're in my L5R game, go post something.

I'll have to check. There's already a trip to PA planned for the beginning of April, and a trip to KY in the works for early summer, so let me work out some budget stuff first. Right off, though, I'd have to say probably not.
